Winter Ice

socks being knit with dyed sock blank
October 2021

I was eager to cast on a pair of socks with one of the sock blanks I dyed last week. The resulting socks are pleasantly appealing despite the obscure design I "painted" on the blank.

The socks remind me of a frosty and cold morning winter morning.

More photos will be posted as the socks progress.

  2. That is totally intriguing to see how the pattern is evolving so differently from the painted blank. Who would know that was possible?

  3. Wowza!!!! You managed to dye a sock blank that didn't end up looking like just a hodge podge of colors. No matter what I did all my socks always came out looking the same with just random blobs of colors but yours are just amazing. Well done!!!

  4. I love the way those socks are turning out. Winter Ice is a great name. Did you get any of the snow and ice predicted for Wyoming? It's turning into an early winter for a lot of people.

  9. I do enjoy working with a sock blank--so far they have never turned out as I thought they would but they are always fun to knit!!! I love what you have come up with--the icy winter theme!

  10. Love those socks! I have a blank somewhere but have never tried it. Now if I can find it, you've inspired me to get going!
