Sipping in the Sun

Easy Street - light ale
Odell Brewery
Fort Collins, CO
November 2017
Instead of shopping on Friday, we went to a couple of micro breweries in Fort Collins, CO. At the Odell Brewing Company, I enjoyed Easy Street, a nice light-colored ale. Maria enjoyed a glass of Pineapple Cake and shared a couple of sips with me. It was tasty.

It was a gorgeous day, so we sat outside and enjoyed the drinks we had selected. Some favored dark ales; others preferred light ones.  The temperature on Thanksgiving was nearly 70 degrees, and Friday was in the mid-60s. It was too nice to stay inside.
Cheers from Dwight, Harold, Marilyn, Justin, Stephanie,
Maria, and me (the shadow)

After Odell's, we went to Snow Bank Brewery, and there had an interesting ale called Cranknbrew - a crisp and clean pale ale infused with a powerful dose of fresh, locally roasted coffee. I liked it.

Do you like to visit micro-breweries?

  1. Ha! We visit a few but I hate beer/ale etc. I've sat at a beer bar (I'm not sure what else to call it...) and had samples but there wasn't a one I liked. On the other hand, Pat enjoys beers and ales. It's unfortunate because there are dozens of microbreweries in Virginia. I've pretty much given up on sodas (pop depending on the terminology in Wyoming) but I enjoy soda water. (Not the fancy stuff just basic soda water....)

  2. What fun! I just had a local beer infused with coffee and it was delicious. I don't really go to microbreweries, but now that our grocery stores sell beer, you can make up your own six pack of individual bottles, and they offer a very wide variety of local brews. Tasty, and a much better way to spend Black Friday!

  3. That sounds like fun. Glad you got to spend a little time outside before the really cold weather sets in.

I DO like microbrewed beer. Not a big fan of IPAs, but almost any other is good with me. My favorite beer right now is Kentucky Bourbon Barrel.

  4. Sounds like a fun way to spend the day. I love visiting microbreweries and wineries. My husband has an allergy to most beers, so that is something I do with girlfriends. But I did visit a winery in Virginia last spring with my cousins. Isn't this warm weather crazy? It was 72 here yesterday.

  5. Now that is a fun and novel way to spend Black Friday! I’m not a drinker at all. I just plain don’t like the taste of alcohol. And now with all of my medications I’m not allowed to drink. The only thing I’ve ever found that I like is astrawberry daiquiri, so once in a while if we’re out I’ll order a nonalcoholic one.

I’m so glad you had this time to enjoy with friends. I’m sure enjoying each day that I wake up and there’s no snow on the ground. But the warmth is an extra bonus! Have a lovely day.
    Blessings, Betsy

  6. Fireman , Al and Zach all enjoy a good brew. I don't drink beer. Your weather looked just great. I am glad you got out!

  7. That sounds like a great time! That spot in the sunshine looks lovely. I like pilsners, lagers and a mild nutty brown ale every now and again. Beer makes me feel like I've eaten a loaf of bread, so I don't have very much. (can't say the same about wine) I tend not to like the very popular hoppy IPAs. I'm dying to bake a cake with stout!

  8. Fun for you! I have never really like beer except an ice cold Coors on a really hot day:)
