Back in Time - Raising Rabbits

I love this image of my mother and her younger brother and sister: it makes me smile because they seem so carefree.

I think the rabbits were raised for food as well as to sell.

  2. That's a great picture! Most of the photos I've seen of my family from that time are posed shots taken at a photography studio.

  3. Big bows were in back then too. What a precious photo that is. Have you got it displayed in your house? I'm thinking of getting some older photos of relatives (I've got lots of them) and making a photo wall to fill the walls going to the second floor. Evidently I think more than I do as I haven't even looked at the photos I have.

  5. Love the photo! My little granddaughter would say, "Oh wook at the bundies." I would never suggest to her that they might be food. At 4 she still has no idea that people eat animals or that they eat each other. Ah to be young again!

  8. That's a LOTTA rabbits!

I wonder how they felt about them being food. I KNOW that the roaming chickens in Oviedo could be someone's food. I know the cattle out on the local ranches ARE my food, but rabbits just seem too CUTE to be food.

It wasn't something we ever ate, so I guess I see them more as pets.

  13. Oh my, what a lot of bunnies. They are so cute, but the ones in our yard drive me nuts. They are always SO hungry and can't tell weeds from the good stuff. Sigh.
