It's good to see a building that old still in use. I didn't know about the book, but I remember the TV series. We watched it some, but it never was as popular in our house as Gunsmoke or Bonanza.
Heh. I know the book, the TV series, etc. well. My father was a big fan of westerns (books and movies) and as a small child, I had a REALLY hard time grasping that they weren't set in... Virginia...
I wonder if it has been in continual use since 1911 or if, like a lot of old buildings, it sat empty before being restored? In any case, it's a pretty building and I'd love to stay there and soak in the history.
Oh my, does this picture bring back memories.......leaving Laramie, driving across the endless WINDY stretches of highway, heading north to come home for a weekend or school break.....

ReplyDeleteI'm glad this building has been taken care of; it looks very nice from the outside. I like visiting historic buildings too.
ReplyDeleteI love the roof design, it gives the building some extra charm! I wouldn't want to climb those ladders on the side though...
