Color Test

Two weeks ago, I discovered a link that tests how well we see color and can differentiate different hues.

It takes a couple of minutes to complete the test, as you drag blocks to show the variance of hue for the color(s). Once you are satisfied that the blocks are correctly arranged, click the button to score your test and see what hues gave you difficulty.

Enter your age and sex (evidently both play a role in how we view color), the results based on age will be shown.

If you are interesting in testing your ability to see color hues, click here.

My score was 29. Come back and share your results and your impressions of the color test.

  1. Even without taking the test I know I have trouble distinguishing certain shades of green. Sometimes they look brown to me.

  2. Thanks for the link, Nancy! I scored a 73! Yikes! I've always known I was slightly blue/green colorblind, but I sure thought I had those squares in the right order! My father was blue/green color blind, too! I guess that's why I like scrappy quilts.....cuz anything goes, and there is no 'wrong' color! lol

  3. Okay, my curiosity got the best of me and I took the test. I did much better than I expected to. My score was 23.

  4. Yeah, I had to give it a try too. My score was 32. The greens were the trickiest ones for me.

  5. Crazy! I got a 4. My score surprised me because I know I carry a colorblind gene. Maybe my age was in my favor for once. lol

  6. I got a 24, but I also know that colors on my laptop are hard for me. I'll have to try it on the desktop when our internet connection is back!

  7. 7 which was much better than I thought it would be.

  8. I scored 35. The mid-range tones were the hardest for me. Regan got an amazing 73!! Can I borrow her for yarn shopping?

    That was fun Nancy. Thanks!

    1. Yeah, my 73 was amazing in the WRONG DIRECTION! I'm practically a bat! lol I think my yarn selection would be a mass of muddy browns and greys! :o)

  10. I got a 24 here at work. I'm going to try from home where my monitor is calibrated.

  11. I got 27 and had trouble with the pinky/purples. I think I was straining a bit by the end but I'm sure they have all that factored in and the tests are deliberately close to each other. Very interesting. I know my Dad would really struggle as he is red green colour blind

  12. I got 7, 4 out in the blue section which I could tell where wrong on the results section, and 3 wrong in the pinks but they looked correct... so obviously that is the reason I don't like pinks! lol

  13. I took the test again here at home on a calibrated monitor and got a 15. Strangely, both times I got very bored about halfway through the test.

  14. 28. The blue greens gave me trouble.

  15. I got a big fat zero. Was shocked .. at age 54 to have perfect color vision. This was a fun test.

  16. Well - I know why I don't quilt. I won't share my results, but suffice it to say they were horrible. Or maybe the color is just really, really off on my laptop - yea, that must be it. g

  17. This was a lot of fun. I scored a 20, with my poorest ratings being in the blue spectrum. I love blue, well...I thought I did, who knows what color I'm actually seeing when I use whatever I think is blue. Maybe if I use that blue tint on my hair, it'll look like I'm 29 again to me?

  19. I scored a 40. Now we know why I have to frog my knitting so much. Wow it is a wonder anything matches.
    It was great fun.
    Thanks for sharing.

    1. I scored 3!! And I'm 65 and overdue for cataract surgery. I've been so bummed out ever since I turned 65 in February but this test has put some bounce back in my step. (I'm still going to schedule that cataract surgery soon....then maybe I can score a 0.)

  21. I got 12. I'm sitting in a dark room and wonder how it would be if I do it in the daytime. This was fun, but made my eyes a bit crazy!
