Another Silver Lining Hat

Silver Lining hat in progress
February 2021

Like nearly everywhere in the United States, it's been cold and windy recently. I don't usually like wearing hats, but I have enjoyed wearing the Silver Linings hat I finished in early February. The double layers cut the wind and keep my ears and head warm. I highly recommend the pattern and the hat.

I cast on another Silver Lining hat with more scrap sock yarn. I have enough of the variegated yarn that I plan to knit with it throughout, but change the alternate yarn to a different solid at the halfway point.

  1. That yarn looks so soft. I don't wear hats very often either - mostly because my hair is baby fine and very short. So, wearing a hat means when I take it off my hair is a mix of "stuck to my head" and "standing on end". But I do have a couple of hand knit hats that I pull out for those times I really need them. I even still have one my grandmother knit for me in HS. It still looks just fine even after 50 years!

  4. You're really tempting me to cast on for one of those!

  5. nice looking hat! I made a headband and sometimes I wear it alone and sometimes under a hat if it is really cold, I get earaches easy especially if it is windy. :)

  6. I really like that pattern and the colors you're using for this one too. I should get busy on one but I have so many things I want to make and only so many hours in the day. What to do, what to do? :-)

  7. I like the colors on this one. Even with very cold weather we’ve had I haven’t been wearing hats much. On the other hand we tend to stay home. I need to make one of the headband style ear warmers for my daughter and daughter-in-law. I bet they would both wear them. I wonder if I could use sock yarn on one of those.

  8. I'm glad you are being kept warm from your hat artistry! The one is very pretty--it is going to be nice to know how warm they are if you decide to gift one!

  10. I agree that double layers are the best. I have one I wear indoors for when I get a migraine and it really helps.
