This sock is progressing slowly, but with purpose. I am teaching a friend how to knit socks and have been knitting along with her. I use my sock to show her the process, and Carol follows along with her project. She is working with worsted weight yarn on size 6 needles and is seeing quick progress. Carol has successfully completed the cuff, the heel flap, the heel turn, and is starting the gusset decreases. Soon, she will reach the toe and have a completed sock. Her family is already requesting socks for Christmas.
What a great way to teach someone and how cool that her family is already requesting socks!! She will be busy. Pretty yarn you are using Nancy.
ReplyDeleteShe will forever be indebted to you:)
ReplyDeleteToo bad we live so far away from each other. Knitting socks is on my list of things to learn.
ReplyDeleteI did that with my sisters one summer when we were all at Daddio's for his hip surgery. I don't think they ever finished their socks but we did have fun.
ReplyDeleteGreat work teaching your friend to knit her first sock. You will have to keep her motivated so that she doesn't fall victim to the dreaded second sock syndrome.
ReplyDeleteHum, I still have a few skeins of sock yarn but I'm trying to finish hand quilting a quilt these days... and then a sweater for one of my grands.
ReplyDeleteIt is always a wonder to teach knitting and have them 'get' it!
ReplyDeleteSo happy for both of you!
Once a teacher always a teacher! You have patience. How nice. Just think of the lifelong gift you are giving her!
ReplyDeleteHow kind of you to teach her. I love that her family is requesting socks. It will keep her busy! With you as a teacher I know she'll be proficient very soon.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Betsy
I tried as a child to learn knitting, my mama was very patient, but I just didn't catch on. Instead, I had to go and do something harder... web development lol. I can make a website but can't knit a straight row for nuthin'! Bless you for patiently helping your friend! ♥
ReplyDeleteThat is so kind of you!
ReplyDeleteYeah Nancy! You inspired me to give it a whirl too, something I never thought I could do! ! How wonderful that you share your talent! :)
ReplyDeleteROFL!! I would have to do the "two socks at once" method as I probably would never get to the second sock!
