Week's End
food and drink to close the week |
A toddler from the table behind me giggled, and I turned to smile. Just as I turned, the little girl threw me the biggest kiss. I caught it, and threw one back to her. Our brief exchange made some of the tension from my day diminish.
I snapped the photo shown above and sent a text to Marilyn and Brenda and asked about their day. Brenda called, and we chatted as I ate.
When I was finished my meal, the waitress said the party at a nearby table had paid for my meal and drink. Again, more of the day's tension slipped away.
Thanks to the kindness of strangers, I walked back to the motel with a spring in my step and a lighter heart.
Have you "paid it forward" lately?
Now you are making me cry. I am so grateful for the kindness of strangers when things are falling apart. Yes, I love to pay it up for others for the same reason...
ReplyDeletePerfection. All the way around. I'm guessing you made those people as happy as they made you.
ReplyDelete(And now I wish I had that meal and drink ...)
That is such a sweet story. I'm going to look for an opportunity to gift someone in this way!
ReplyDeleteI love this. It much improved my day. We're having our garage sale today and tomorrow and it's only 9:30 in the morning. One man has already given us a counterfeit $100 bill which my husband gave him $60 change for in "real" money and another person stole four baseball mitts. If they had only asked, we would've given them both the items they wanted. We just want to get rid of things. I was feeling a little disillusioned with mankind and then I read your post. Thank you. You've restored my faith in mankind. I hope all of the tests come out perfectly fine and I'm glad you enjoyed your meal out.
ReplyDeleteBlessings, Betsy
Nice! It warmed my heart to read this. We have done this a few times and it also makes us feel good to help brighten the day for other's. Take care and stay well.
ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely story!! I don't "pay it forward" as much as I should. Thanks for the reminder that it can make the day, and sometimes the life, of a stranger as well as a friend.
ReplyDeleteI hope all was well with the doctor's exam! I pray for you.
What a great story! Assume (hope) all is ok since you decided to celebrate. We are going to a Mexican restaurant for dinner and a margaritas is in my future! Happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely way to end a day! A kiss and your meal paid for - that is pretty special. And the meal looked yummy.
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet and darling story. There are GOOD people in this world. I paid it forward on 5/6. We were going to camp and we gave our campsite away to the next person to go to the Check in. I hope they had fun
ReplyDeleteI hope all your poking and prodding was all good!! What a sweet thing to do...made you feel special, and you are!
ReplyDeleteWow! What a lovely surprise at the end of a trying day.
ReplyDeleteYes I have paid it forward --- but, the details will remain between me and the other person.
I try to pay it forward in small ways here and there. I can't agree enough with the others. This story has really hit the spot today, this week etc. Thank you, Nancy. Your heart is good and the universe wants to make sure you know that.
ReplyDeleteI love random acts of kindness! I like to pay for the person behind me when I do the Starbucks drive-through.
ReplyDeleteYou are blessed and a blessing all in one. So nice to see you treat yourself...do it more.
ReplyDeleteI hope your Medical Visit had good outcomes. How lovely that someone saw you and they were able to perk up your day!
ReplyDeleteI have not paid it forward recently but I will soon :)
Dinner looks scrumptious. I'm looking forward to some seafood soon when we go to our beach house. We were too busy earlier.
ReplyDeleteI second what Bridget said. :) In a world that often seems to be off it's rocker, it's nice to hear of small kindnesses, that make the day a little brighter.
ReplyDeleteHow nice that your stressful day turned out great! And thanks for sharing; it's nice to here that there are kind people out there, especially since hearing about the terrible tragedy in Portland this week!
