Fabric Donation

yardage and scrap fabric donation
May 2017
A box of fabric, fabric scraps, and two kits arrived in the mail last week from LuAnn W. in Michigan. She saw my request on Jo's Country Junction website and sent me an email:

I learned of your charity work through Jo's Country Junction. I have two UFO's from a local quilter who has passed away and some fabric that would be appropriate for your quilts. I've been looking for the right opportunity to get these to someone who would use them for service members.

When I opened the package, I was delighted by the variety of fabric and the possibilities they presented.
pattern and yardage
One of the bags included yardage and a pattern to make a Bargello flag. I'll probably use the fabric for another pattern.
UFO medallion and yardage
I plan to use the extra yardage to add borders to this star-studded medallion. The stars are gorgeous in person.

Thank you, LuAnn for thinking of Quilts of Valor for your donation. The quilts and presentation cases made with your donation fabric will be sent to the Idaho and/or Montana Quilt of Valor coordinators for distribution.

  5. Oh my goodness! What a wonderful donation. Love that star quilt top in the bottom photo. The quilter who originally owned this treasure would be so thrilled that someone is going to finish her quilt and make use of her stash for a good cause. Wow!

  6. That was an absolutely wonderful donation. I'm sure that the original purchaser would love to know that they're being used for the quilts of valor and the presentation cases. Thank you for all that you do for our servicemen.
