I love viewing the display of old medical equipment and supplies while I wait for my appointments at the clinic. Some items are drastically different and others only slightly.

My current primary care doctor is a young physician who listens and makes me feel like I am a member of my own healthcare team. I hope she stays in the area a long time.

Is your primary care doctor "vintage" or "modern"?

Comments

  1. Love the old medical cabinet - remember one similar in my pediatrician's office many, many decades ago! Our (my husband and I go to the same one) primary care physician is a young Vietnamese woman. At first I wasn't sure if I liked her style, but it has grown on me and we are both happy with her.

  2. Our general practice dr. in Orlando was "vintage" and his office was in the Oviedo Hospital Building from the early 1900s. He had a lot of vintage medical stuff too and WAS a fantastic dr. Unfortunately, he sold his practice (getting ready to retire) and the office staff is AWFUL!

Here in Jacksonville my doctor is very, VERY modern. My endocrinologist is one of the big reasons we came to Jacksonville. I haven't found a general doctor here yet. It's on the list of things to do.

  3. My primary care doctor is just slightly younger than me but his PA is a young woman. We see whichever one has an opening usually. And my new eye doctor is very young. I like her a lot.

  4. Modern....everything is on the computer. All my records are available for me to see with a password.

  5. There is an old black doctor's bag that one doc carries around...it is quite old, and I love it! I am just a number in a large practice, so I am glad you are part of your healthcare team.

  6. I loved seeing your vintage medical equipment. Our doctors office is rather small. Nothing is computerized yet and I like it that way. You feel like they really care about you. Our doctor is also a Christian and will pray with you, which is greatly appreciated. Another thing I like about him is that he's not afraid to admit when he doesn't know what's wrong with you. That's what happen with my heart and I ended up at the cardiologist and with a pacemaker. I'm very grateful for that. I had seen a doctor before him that just ignored the things I was telling him and said I was too young to have heart problems. Thank you for a look back in the past.
    Blessings, Betsy

  7. I love that vintage medical cabinet! I'm sure I could fill it up with junk, ha!

My GP is definitely young and modern. She works with her Twin sister who is also an MD. When I had my Sciatica issue I saw the sister and she was just as lovely.

  8. Modern. She's a RNP in a contemporary office. Everything's on computer. But she listens and is open to alternative medicine, which is important to me. The green metal cabinet reminds me of my childhood doctor's office. Just a little office. A tiny waiting room with receptionist/nurse and one examining room. Very quaint.

  9. Glad Im not in that vintage display!! Mine is modern. Im the bossy nurse patient. I usually want things handled my way! I try to be nice, but I know a bit about things..... a bit. We aren't terribly bonded, but she's fine.

  10. I remember sitting on an exam table like that! lol
I just lost my valued PCP after 10 years and am resisting the new guy. It takes so much energy to get a dr to know about you...

  11. I have very few memories of doctor visits as a child. I as a military dependent I went to military bases for medical treatment. Interesting display. I do remember going to a medical museum in DC with all sorts of oddities many, many years ago.
