From My Chair
This table is used to keep my knitting and cup of tea close |
This table is next to my knitting chair, and around that chair I have quite a nest. Current projects on usually on the table or in a nearby basket. The blue pottery holds a variety of necessary items - stitch markers, lip balm, etc. Behind the pottery dish is a bin with pens, scissors, small crochet hook, tissues, etc. In the background you can see the basket where I keep my Oddball knitting yarn stash.
Sometimes I place items on the floor in front of my chair - items that I want to photograph for blog posts and for Ravelry project pages. The photo above has White Christmas spread out for its photo shoot and a pile of baby beanies waiting for their turn to be phtographed.
Do you have a knitting nest? What does the view look like from your knitting chair?
It looks cozy to have things out like that. I put all projects away every night in fear of the short black dog getting hold of it and causing havoc. Are you knitting socks in this pic? By the magic loop method? And two sets of needles going? I need to learn that method although I'll only do one at a time.
ReplyDeleteMy nest has been known to get out of control at times. Currently all is contained is a large open basket beside the chair I usually sit in when knitting, a smaller covered basket on the hearth and a couple of knitting bags that I keep projects in. It's not too messy just now, but could be better.
ReplyDeleteI have two .....the one in the family room has just what I need for what I'm working on. Then there is the one in the girl-cave ----- it has my computer, my cameras, the tv remote, my bright light, MP3, a a bunch of other stuff. It's not near so neat as the one in the family room. LOL
ReplyDeleteNever thought of it as a "knitting nest" but yes I do and maybe I will post some pictures of mine:) However I only work on one project at a time (most of the time) and have a closet with an old hope chest that holds my hoard of yarn.
ReplyDeleteYes, I have a knitting nest too...at your prompting I may have to photograph and post it. Don't you just love your nest???
ReplyDeleteMine is very similar to yours. I have a small basket with medicines, nail file, and other small daily necessities. There are a few stacks of books....Christmas books right now. Then there's my lunch tray because I eat lunch in the living room. Of course there's my current knitting project and book I'm currently reading. On the floor is the basket of yarn for my current knitting project. Yeah, it really is a nest.
ReplyDeleteYour knitting nest is very cozy! Mine is a recliner with a table beside, and the drawer in the table holds needles, scissors and other odds and ends. My big knitting bag with the three in progress projects is beside the chair on the floor. I think it is interesting that we all photograph projects so differently. Mine are always on the dining room table. It's the only way I can keep dogs out of the photo!
ReplyDeleteI have sort of taken over the corner of our sectional couch. I really want to get my own chair and spot where I can keep everything close at hand. The couch corner, while comfy, isn't easy to access anything!
ReplyDeleteThat's a cool perspective! Right now, I'm working out of town, so I mostly have all my stuff in a bag. I knit in my hotel bed.
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute question! I usually knit by heart in front of the TV . Tonight as I tackle some shaping, and v neck pattern, I may have to move to the kitchen table
ReplyDeleteKnitting nest. I like that you have chapstick in your basket. I find the powers of chapstick / lip balm constantly underrated and underestimated. I have two permanent spots in the apt declared as MINE: a fabulous chair with random project bags tucked around and under it in the living room where stitchmarkers are littered like confetti post ticker tape parade and the wedge of space between my night table (which is a filing cabinet) and my bed in the bedroom. I'm known to hole-up there when I cannot stand the thunder of video gaming in the living room. Ahh, cozy knitting times!
ReplyDeleteSo interesting and organized!!!.... My knitting is 'everywhere"...tonight it I was dragging it into the hotel...on the floor.... hubby noticed it before It got to dirty:)
ReplyDeleteI finally got my yarn stash our of the storage way up high in the upstairs. I donated some to the church for prayer shawls and some I put in an EMPTY drawer because I want to do something scrappy and I want it accessible..I looked for a basket and couldn't find one I liked. I ran onto patterns etc from long ago. It was a trip down memory lane. I doubt that I will knit again but I will crochet. I am working on a gift for someone now..didn't buy enough yarn..so I need to go to town when the weather clears. I just grab my yarn and hook and sit any old place usually on the couch with my feet up:)
ReplyDeleteMy view is similar to Katherine's, as I have taken over one end of our sectional.
