Scraps, Beware

In a comment on a previous post, Lori asked how many pairs of socks I've knit this fall. By my calculations, I'd say about 15 pair. This scrappy pair will be number 16.

When I begin the scrap yarn socks, I find at least 1.5 ounces of yarn. Then I roll the yarn into two balls, using a postal scale to make sure they are close to being equal.

With scissors, I snip a corner off of a zip sandwich bag and then feed the yarn through the hole. This keeps the yarn clean and eliminates tangling in my knitting bag.

As I knit, I work on both socks, which keeps me motivated.

My scrap sock yarn bag has enough in it to make one more pair, so I guess Wool Winder is right that "No scrap of yarn is safe in my house."

  1. Maybe this is a hard question: how long does it take to you knit them? I love your socks!
