Simple Stripe 12 x 14 inches |
Simple Stripe is the miniature quilt featured on the January
Temecula Quilt Company 2015 calendar card. The colored stripes are scraps from larger quilts and the sashing/binding a fat quarter purchased long ago. I pieced some batting scraps together and added some minimal quilting, i.e. "stitching in the ditch" to complete this miniature.
The Temecula Quilt Company seems to specialize in mini quilts. Even though I am not a fan of working with such tiny bits of scraps, I hope to complete the monthly mini featured on the calendar cards I purchased in December.
Do you like to create miniatures?
Oh yea. I do like to make little quilts. I don't do miniature quilts 1" to 10" but small ones yes. And I have a hallway that I use to display the quilts. I need more small quilts so I can rotate them better. Hum, I have a UFO that wouldn't take much to finish off.....
ReplyDeleteI do like miniature quilts. Haven't made very many but I love the look. One of my favorites is hanging in the stairway to my basement office, sewing room, family room and so I get to enjoy it every time I go downstairs. And I like Bonnie's idea of displaying them in a hallway.
ReplyDeleteIt may be miniature but I love it big sized! I can't believe I've never seen one before.
ReplyDeleteHello Nancy,
ReplyDeleteLovely mini.
Thank you for sharing.
Well I don't sew but if I did I would make these smaller and they would be pot holders:)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea!! Is there a pattern or dimensions or something on the calendar, or do you just look at the design and make up your version?
ReplyDeleteI love miniatures but I do not like creating them at all!
ReplyDeleteI like it! I don't really like making miniatures either, but I do like looking at them.
ReplyDeleteI agree with MartiDIY. :-) That is so pretty! I'd rather work with larger pieces of fabric, though. I do feel inspired to do something creative when I visit you. Right now I'm trying to find some cute pieces of Valentine fabric or flowers in pinks, in order to make a heart-shaped mug rug (which is small, I realize). Check out my blog this morning. You might see something familiar! :-)
ReplyDeleteThis is so cute! You inspire me to try and make a quilt. At least a small wall one...lol. Keep up the good work.
ReplyDeleteWell, I don't sew (as you know), but my grandmother actually taught me to sew by making doll clothes, so I'm wondering if a mini quilt would be up my alley...
