Care Package

A couple of weeks ago, Marilyn sent me a care package of homemade popcorn balls and Hot Tamales. I've written about Marilyn's popcorn balls before, and if you like a soft popcorn ball, check out the recipe in this earlier post.

Hot Tamales are a pandemic feast or famine product: before Marilyn sent the package, it was impossible in this area to find even a small box of the sugary treat. I've since found them in the dollar store and also in Ridley's, a local grocery store.

Marilyn's package came at the perfect time, and I enjoyed every bite.

  1. Isn't it funny how some things are still hard to get? Here it is hominy. I couldn't get a can of that nasty, gluey stuff for anything. The Mister asks me for it every week and it still is rarely showing up in the delivery.

  3. What a perfect care package - snacks! Marilyn obviously knows what you like. It's strange what items have been scarce.

  6. Oh that's wonderful. It is always fun to eat a favorite candy that's been out of stock for you, for awhile! I'm glad she sent them to you

  8. That looks like a great recipe. I will leave the cooking to the pros and stick to crafting. :) When I was in college in Laramie, my mom and dad would send big boxes of popcorn balls - all different colors and flavors. The wonderful aroma of the package would permeate the dorm. Everyone wanted to know what was in the package.

  10. What a great package! I love popcorn balls. Hot Tamales...not so much. I had crayons in my grocery order today at Walmart and was told they were out of stock! Crayons at Walmart! How does that even happen? I needed them for the art lessons Piper is giving me online. :-)

  12. I love popcorn balls but, unfortunately, can't eat anything popcorn due to diverticulitis. :-( But I can eat hot tamales which I also love. I haven't had any issues finding them..that's strange.
