Whooo Was at the Balloon Rally?

July 2017
My niece made a trip from Denver on Thursday: she came to see the annual balloon rally in Riverton. This is the 37th year that the Riverton Rendezvous Rally has been held, and it didn't disappoint.

The weather was gorgeous on Saturday morning - perfect for seeing the balloons up close and to see them fly, and fly, and fly. I've been to the rally numerous times, and this is the first time, that the weather (wind currents) allowed the balloons to circle the field and sometimes land and change riders. All of the balloons hovered in the area for over an hour.
Brenda (my niece)
It was Brenda's first time at the rally, but I have a feeling she'll be back.

I think this was the first appearance for the owl balloon. We didn't get to see it inflated because it was hiding behind some other balloons.

However, we were near when the owl took flight and joined balloons in the air.

Yes, I went to the balloon rally and walked among the
gentle giants. My physical therapist gave me the okay
to be more mobile and to use a cane. I had a good time, but
my ankles and legs were quite swollen Saturday night due to
the additional activity.
More balloon photos will be posted this week.

  1. Nancy, you are the rehab warrior. I kept wondering if you went too as I read the post. Hooray for you. I love the owl balloon. The weather has to be just right, but there is a local balloon company and we see them sometimes above the house here.

  2. Good to see you up and about - glad you have the ok to be more mobile! The owl balloon is so cool. I am too chicken to ride in one...I just know I'd be sick the entire time.

  4. Good for you! We used to have a balloon museum here in Mitchell and a big balloon rally each summer. But that all ended many years ago. We took the kids when they were in elementary school and it was always such fun to watch them inflate and then take off. We still see a couple in the area but not any as beautiful as that owl.

  5. I'll bet it felt good to be out even if it was a little challenging to your leg. Keeping active is the way to go though....my father in law babied his and he's paying the price now.

Love that Owl balloon. It's very cute.

  9. Glad you got out and about. But sorry to hear you had the issues. I bet you were so happy to get out of the house! That owl looks so cute. I've never been to a hot air balloon rally. Looks like fun although I bet folks end up with crooks in the neck from looking up a lot!
