I returned to the area last week to locate the gravesite of Sacajawea, the young Shoshone woman who accompanied Lewis and Clark on their journey to the Pacific Ocean.

ReplyDeleteA lot of good information on those headstones! I love old cemeteries. I've spent many days walking up and down the rows reading the history written there.
ReplyDeleteim related to sacajewea by marriage and this is sooo interesting to find out my 4* great uncle Robert weir dempsey married Bright star or Margaret stevens/dempsey and bright star was her great niece
ReplyDeleteRobert Dempsey and Bright Star (Margaret Stevens) are my great-great grandparents. Their daughter Jane is my great grandmother. They are buried in Twin Bridges, Montana I have found a picture of Margaret with her three young daughters. Gerald Seyler
