Another Surprise

Another surprise package recently arrived in my mailbox. Several weeks ago, I requested some of these crochet hot pads from my oldest sister, but the wild rice at the bottom of the box was a complete surprise.

I love mixing the wild rice with brown and white rice in soups and in baked dishes. The nutty flavor is delicious.

Thanks, Sis!

Do you like wild rice? What is your favorite way to eat it?

  1. I never think of fixing wild rice, probably because it's not really my favorite. My husband loves it though. He loves all rice, but I like potatoes better.

  3. I don't think I've ever made it myself, but I've had it at restaurants. It's usually mixed in with jasmine or basmati rice. I like it a lot.

The hot pads are very nice. That should bring some happiness to the kitchen with those nice, bright colors.

  4. In soup I guess. I am not overly fond of it, but my husband loves it! Wool Winder and I should get together! I buy a Shore Lunch Soup called Creamy Wild Rice we have that once in awhile. At potlucks many good cooks bring hotdishes with Wild Rice:. Those potholder are great! :)

  5. I love the crochet stitch on the hot pads! I also like to mix wild rice with brown rice. I don't make it often because I am the only one who really likes it.

  7. Yum - I do love wild rice. As a Minnesota native maybe that was a requirement. My mom made a wonderful turkey wild rice casserole that I loved. But soup is probably one of the best.

  9. Hum, I really like boring white rice. But wild rice does go really well with chicken soup.
