Finishing Touches

The backstitching is done! It always amazes me how much the backstitching adds to a piece. The metallic thread that outlines the circle tangled and frayed like crazy, but it sparkles in the light.

I still need to sew on the beads for the holly berries and find a frame, but essentially this project is finished. Even though it took me over 20 years to get this far and contains numerous mistakes, I am pleased with the result. Its progress over the last year can be seen here, here, and here.

My sister sent an e-mail yesterday to show me a project she is going to have framed.

What are the odds that we worked on the same project? The beads are sewn on her picture, so you can get a better idea of the completely finished picture. Nice job, Sis!

  1. How amazing you both did the same project...they are both beautiful and represents soooo much work.

  2. That is beautiful. I don't see the mistakes and, really, nobody else will unless they stand still long enough to study it.

  3. The two of you must have been on the same wave lenght! Both results are amazing :)

  4. Congratulations on finishing the backstitching. That's always the least fun, but what a difference it makes! Hopefully the beads will go on easily and quickly. It's neat that you and your sister were working on the same project.

  5. I love that you made the same thing! Had you known she was even working on one?
