Monster Socks

Even though the Monster Socks used a lot of scrap yarn, I am not completely pleased with them. I don't like the way I carried the yarn on the inside - a technique that I definitely need to improve.

Fair warning, if you make these socks with scrap yarn, be prepared to weave in a lot of loose ends.

Made with fingering weight, superwash wool scraps on size 2 needles, these socks will go into the donation box.

  1. That is one of the problems with using yarn scraps...the dreaded ends ;) I think your socks came out great and I bet there is someone out there waiting for these special socks to love :)

  3. Nancy, I really like these! I have to say that I struggle when I use multiple colors of yarn as well. One of these days, when I have time, I will master this skill.

    GREAT job though!!

  4. You may not be pleased with the inside, but the outside is beautiful. It even looks like you were able to match the stripes.

  5. Where do you donate the socks? Just asking, because I have a lot of scrap sock yarn.

  7. They look great though. I love all the colors and that they are not perfectly matched. My youngest daughter always likes her sock to be a little different from one another.

  9. They look awesome Nancy, but I hate working in ends so understand completely where you're coming from there.

Can't remember if I ask you this, I know I've been meaning too...gees I need to start writing things down. How did you add the written name to your posts...nice touch.

  10. I'm so sorry you didn't like them. I think they're fantastic. I hear you about weaving in all those dreaded loose ends. I will do just about anything to avoid weaving in ends. Thanks for the tips. I really think they're beautiful. Maybe if it were just 2 skeins of yarn - one solid and one self-striping - it might give a similar effect without all the weaving??? What do you think?
