Grace Under Pressure

Courage is grace under pressure

Since last week, I've been glued to the TV and computer watching the news of the Japanese earthquake and tsunami. I was horrified to see the tsunami rushing ashore, and indiscriminately destroying everything in its path. (Sendai is a mere 200 miles from Misawa where I lived in the late 70s.)

The images of the destruction are disturbing. The survivors have no idea if their family, neighbors or friends are even alive. They may never know. Yet, these grief-stricken people are patient. They patiently stand in lines for hours to use a phone, to purchase gasoline, to read the growing list of the deceased.

Have you noticed the grace of the Japanese victims?

We can learn a lot from these survivors. May God bless them today and in the difficult days, months, and years to come.

  2. I, too, have been struck by the grace of the victims. It is so heart wrenching to watch, but I have not seen any reports of looting and such.

  4. Yes! My pastor was just commenting yesterday that you do NOT see any rioting in the streets as we see happening in America in the aftermath of events like this. We could learn so much from the gentle spirit of this nation.
