High Ridge Crossing

High Ridge Crossing
60 x 72 inches
Quilt of Valor #139
High Ridge Crossing was made with a Northcott Naturescapes panel. The mottled dark green fabric used for the end "reflection" strips gave me fits. It stretched and then shrunk, causing some issues with the borders. I think the wide outer border solved some of the problem. I warned the longarmer that this one may be a problem for him, too. Needless to say, the fabric has been pitched.

Pattern: Reflections by Mountainpeek Creations

Modifications: I shortened both the top and bottom "reflection" strips by two inches.

  1. Despite your "problems," it turned out very pretty!

  2. Sorry it gave you such a problem. I still love it! I had one fabric in my stash that would cause my Bernina to skip stitches. I cleaned and oiled again, changed thread, and other various things. Nothing would help. I finally decided it was the fabric. I got rid of it too....crazy huh?

  3. It turned out very striking. I like the colors you chose for the reflection stripes. Well done! I've had to toss out some fabric occasionally too over the years because of how it handled.

  5. So sorry it gave you troubles. I actually, LOVE it. I saw two deer after sundown last week, so they remind me of your group on the quilt! They behaved and did not get close to my car or the road

  11. I can't blame you for pitching the extra fabric. Sometimes it just isn't worth the hassle! But this design looks wonderful with your panel. I think it would also look great with a big print. Hum, it seems to me that I have some horses in the snow... was going to make a pillowcase but didn't have enough of that. This design or a variant would look great.
