Back in Time - Hawaii 1976

Lately I've been yearning for color, as the landscape is still brown and grey with a bit of the white stuff still visible here and there. I searched my old photos and found these two images from the first trip I made to Hawaii - June 1976. Hawaii is beautiful and colorful - the perfect getaway (even in photos) for a winter weary soul.

I returned to Hawaii in 1985 and then again in 2010.  Have you visited Hawaii?

  1. Cheerful sight! The sun is out and very bright here...but it is still quite cold...with more snow in the forecast for next week.

I've never been to Hawaii. It's the one state I've never had a strong desire to visit. On the flip side, I'd love to go to Alaska (in the summer).

But, I definitely want one of those Hawaiian skirts.

  3. We have been twice, and loved it The first time we visited visited Oahu, Hawaii, the Big Island, and Maui - all quite different in their own ways. And our second visit was as several days as a stop over on our way back home from UK. It would be so nice t go back again.

  4. Dennis and I have been to Hawaii five times. The first time he had to go on business and I tag along. We visited a Oahu, the big Island of Hawaii and Maui. We fell in love with Maui and have gone back four more times. It is our favorite vacation spot. And since we’ve been there so many times, we don’t do the touristy stuff anymore. We truly lead a very little relaxed and laid-back life when we go. There are no plans right now for a trip, but I know Dennis would love to return soon.
    Blessings, Betsy

  5. I have been to Hawaii twice. The first trip was to visit a niece who was living there and we went to the Polynesian Cultural Center. I have some very similar photos. Our second trip was to Maui, when my husband was speaking at a conference there. Both trips were wonderful and you are so right about the colors being good for the winter weary soul. Mine needs some sunshine and flowers right now - as I wait and watch for the winter storm to begin later this afternoon.

  6. Mahalo! Yes I visited once and we loved it. The people were so nice to us. THe weather was ideal. I'm looking to socks and blogs for color. Oh and my son is visiting Guatemala and sending us lovely images each day. I have decided not to worry about him and to be happy he is taking this excursion with a friend!

  7. Oh, wow.....no I've never been to Hawaii but it looks amazing. I could use some sunshine and warmth right about now. It was snowing here a bit this morning. Ugh.

  11. Ah a little bright color would be lovely. It's gotten cold here again...which is not the same as cold in Wyoming! Yes we've been to Hawaii. In fact, several times. First in 1973, then sometime around '78 and once again in early 90's with our kids. We had fun all three times. I'd like to go again some day but we're on the wrong side of the US!
