Square Dance
Half Log Cabin blocks |
Square Dance, except for the outer border, is made from backing scraps of other Quilts of Valor. This quilt is #19 in the 12 in 2012 Quilt of Valor Challenge.
The block is a large (9.5 inch) Half Log Cabin block, made with 3 inch strips. The quilt reminds me of red or blue bandanas; thus, the quilt was named, Square Dance.
Kathy of Kathy's Fancy Stitching volunteered to machine quilt it for me. Thanks, Kathy!

Update October 24, 2012: this quilt was shown on Alycia's blog today
I think I like each new quilt better than the last. Nicely done!
ReplyDeleteReminds me of an old country bandana. Very pretty!
ReplyDeleteYou have come up with some great patterns along with utilizing all your fabric.
ReplyDeleteThat's pretty amazingly lined up, I have the feeling that if I did it, we would be calling it rectangle dance.
ReplyDeleteGreat job.

Quilt cooperation ...how cool! I love the bandanna look as others have agreed! THis is a real winner
ReplyDeleteNancy - another winner! This is a great block and a lovely quilt. I still think you'll finish the year around 24. g
ReplyDeleteI really like this one! It is aptly named, for sure! It looks like there is a subtle difference in the shades of white blocks. The pattern and colors work so well together. My eye sees the blue and red blocks as a background design, and the white blocks look like they sit right on top. Well done, Nancy! And this is #19? WOW.
ReplyDeleteOh Boy - Do I LOVE that one!! You are rockin' and rollin'!!!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilt! It prompted me to go back and look at some of your photos from the past. Nancy, you have moving and thought provoking photos all through your blog posts! I enjoyed an hour of looking through them and want to thank you for images of Wyoming winters, gorgeous quilts, stained glass windows, knitting, and history (both American and foreign. The next time I need a stress free hour I will come back and look at more of your pictures.
ReplyDeleteWell, yee haw and do-si-do! The quilt is beautiful and perfectly named.
ReplyDeleteGreat quilt Nancy! I love that you used extra backing fabrics.
ReplyDeleteWow! How gorgeous! I love the colors you picked out, I am in awe of people who can make such lovely quilts!
