Holey Moley!

A couple of weeks ago, I blew out a heel on the first pairs of socks I knit, and close inspection revealed that several other pair were also getting thin heels, making it necessary to get busy knitting.

This colorful yarn was given to me in a swap and is knitting up nicely. I doubt that the socks will match, but that really doesn't matter to me.

  1. Hey, that just means you've been wearing the socks you make. I tend to not wear the socks a lot because they are too hot for me. We have had such a mild winter I think I wore my wool socks, hum, maybe 3 times. Sigh.

I think I need some of that jacard yarn. (however it is spelled!) But, we don't know what the new baby is and won't until delivery although the tech said it was very obvious ... so we are all thinking it's a boy.... but I sure don't want to make something and then have it be a girl... except maybe eventually there will be grandkids from my son....

  2. I love YOURS but I didn't like my KROY Paton sock yarn. It was too splitty. I had to buff up my sock drawer too this month> Sometimes we have to knit for ourselves !

  3. My KROY socks did not match, but they are the warmest pair I have in my collection. I love to sleep in them on chilly nights. Thankfully, spring is in full swing here and our cold days are gone... but we will probably still have a few more "cool" spells before the weather settles.

  4. I have some of that in my stash too. Curious that Kathyb disliked it and you are pleased with it... Wonder if I'll ever knit with it and what I'll think?

  5. Oh those are lovely. Like Kathy B I find it a bit splitty but that's where my favorite Hiya Hiya needles come in. This winter my husband decided it makes his favorite socks. enjoy.

  8. You won't blow out the heel in these. Steve has been wearing Kroy socks for over three years and they still look good as new.

I love the colors. They are going to be some happy socks.

  9. If you still have some of the yarn from the original socks you could darn them...

    happy knitting :)

  11. I'm always admiring your knitting. Holes in socks--very rarely for me--I finally wore a hole in a pair that is at LEAST 10+ years old.
