My Heart's Not In It
My knitting has slowed to a snail's pace the last two weeks. Normally, these socks would have been finished in a week, but the color doesn't appeal to me, so progress stalled. I love the yarn (Austerman Step); however, in my opinion, the colorway (Eggplant) leaves a lot to be desired.
I often put my yarn in a zip-top baggie to keep it clean. Before casting on, I snip a little off of the bag's bottom corner and feed the yarn through the hole. The yarn feeds smoothly through the hole and doesn't snag on other things in my knitting bag.
The second sock is ready for its toe. The socks are knit on size 2 needles for my size 10 feet.

I love the color, Nancy! Keep at it!
ReplyDeleteI can't blame you! I would think egg plant would have a lot of purple in it -- these seem orange to me.
ReplyDeleteLove the snow pictures. We have had a few sweltering days in the high 80's but now it is perfect spring-time weather mid 70's not much humidity. Really outdoors weather for me!
Oh I am so sorry you don't like the color but I do:) You do such a awesome job on socks...think we need to hire you out.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it funny how a "small" detail will hold us up on knitting? Several months ago I did not like the way the yarn was "pooling", and that really held me up. I finally just hurried and finished them just to get it off the needles so i could cast on something better. Just bite the bullet and go for it!
ReplyDeleteI really like the color, but then, I'm not the one having to knit with it. I sometimes use zip-top baggies for my yarn, but usually thread the yarn through the top, leaving a small bit of the top unzipped. I think your method of snipping the corner would work better. Thanks for the tip.
ReplyDeleteClever, but simple bag trick. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI love your socks...would be a great colorway to wear with browns! Great idea about the bag...will have to make a mental note of that one. I'm sure it will come in handy some day :)
ReplyDeleteToo funny! I think they are nice but I can understand not wanting to finish something that doesn't appeal.
ReplyDeleteI've got socks that just need the toes finished on my needles. I really should just get them done. By the way, I like the yarn color..
ReplyDeleteI like the color of your socks. You will have them finished up in no time because you are the fastest knitter around!!! :) I am going to put my yarn in zip bags from now on. Thanks for sharing that tip.
