Wyoming Breezes

Angel Wings , an Oddball Shawl (top right), landed briefly in Wyoming this week. I used the mohair I found at a thrift shop earlier this summer to knit my section. Between the Angel Wings and Rainy Days (bottom right) shawls I have used one and a half balls of the mohair. I have five more skeins and will use it again when the shawls return to me for another round of knitting. Update: September 19, 2008 Angel Wings arrived in my mailbox on Thursday so I could add another section. This time I used a pale gray yarn that I found in my stash. I think the yarn has a bit of mohair in it as it has the typical halo and is very soft. Update: November 5, 2008 Rainy Days returned to Wyoming on November 3, 2008. The Lord provided the time to do them and an abundance of materials through donations from strangers, from thrift shop bargains, and from long forgotten items in my own closet, so I used those supplies to knit and to sew. Most items were made for charities and a few for gifts and personal use. Charity items are indicated by a *. While I did not keep track of the amount of yarn that I used for these projects, it would be interesting to calculate. I am in awe of the generosity of those who donated the yarn. It is not uncommon for me to come home and find one or two bags of yarn on my doorstep. I have no idea who leaves most of the bags. I feel knitting items for charity is something the Lord wants me to do. I am humbled by this call. Recently, life has managed to get in the way of my knitting. It seems like I have been running from one task to another and not getting much done. Last weekend, I was busy getting ready for the Wyoming Pulmonary Hypertension Support Group meeting, and this week, I hustled to get the group newsletter ready for publication and distribution. (I'll write more about this group later.) I've met three friends this week for two separate luncheons, and begged out of a quilting group gathering today. My laundry piles are high, I have dishes in the sink, the floors need vacuumed and the furniture dusted. I needed to stay home and get something done. In between all of this activity, I knit on an Oddball Baby Blanket and an Oddball Shawl. Angel Wings made its return visit, and I added another section. This Knitting Angel found a soft spot in my heart and a special place on my Christmas tree. The hostess of the Knitting group, Christmas dinner crafted these cute ornaments for everyone. They would be simple to make and include: a purchased doll about 3 inches high, feather wings, toothpick needles with bead ends, and some gold cord for the hanger. They are absolutely adorable.
