The Power of Words

"I had a farm in Africa at the foot of the Ngong Hills. . ."
~ Karen Blixen ~

Those words have haunted me since the first time I saw the movie, "Out of Africa." I have no idea how many times I have seen this movie (probably dozens) but each time it fills me with admiration for Karen Blixen. Meryl Streep protrays Blixen as was such a strong woman.

Each time I watch the movie, I tell myself that I need to read Blixen's books and stories research her life to see how much of the movie is based on fact. I haven't done that yet, but a quick search today gives me an idea.

I still want to read Out of Africa and Letters from Africa, but for today, I am once more lulled into a different world and a different time by the words, "I had a farm in Africa. . ."

  5. I have that hauntingly beautiful sound track. A mother brought it for her sad little baby years ago. We played it for him, and it was so bittersweet.
